About

Hey All Y’alls!

So I felt that this was a little important so you can actually generate a connection with us and a way to get to know who we are and what the goals of the blog are and what you can hopefully expect out of us.

So…I’m Kate, we currently reside in Central Wyoming and I unfortunately took the long way around to get here.  It all began back in the time of poofed hair stabilized with daily cans of aqua-net, neon, parachute pants, when Prince, Michael Jackson and Madonna reigned supreme.  Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were probably close-ish neighbors as I grew up in the heart of Silicon Valley.  Manresa Beach was our frequent spring break destination along with weekend trips and every year at the end of school, we would go to the Watsonville KOA, pick up a huge flat of strawberries along the side of the road and utterly demolish them by the end of the week…An expensive habit now unfortunately that I doubt will ever completely subside.

I was very lucky to have the foundation I had growing up in Silicon Valley and was firmly entrenched in the volleyball community thanks to my sisters, who are definitely older than me…YOU should know better and know that you never disclose a woman’s age.  I was always good at sports and had a great life in California.  Then we moved to Colorado halfway through my freshman year of high school.  It was rough to start but an amazing change of pace.  Did really well in school located in the Denver Metro area and was able to go to College and get a degree in Chemistry at the University of Northern Colorado.

Got my first job at a lab and then the economy crashed in 2008 / 2009…Like so many other millenials, I moved back home and looked for a new job.  Could not find anything local / in Colorado; so I expanded my search to places elsewhere in the country that I could live near extended family or I wouldn’t mind living by myself.  Life has a way of leading you to the right place as I ended up in Wyoming and couldn’t imagine my life ny different now.Meanwhile later on in the land of the 1980’s, a Dogfather was born as the second oldest of  six children in Western Wyoming.  Life was good but simultaneously probably couldn’t be any more different than Silicon Valley at the same time.  They grew up there and then moved to Laramie, Wyoming for a while so that the Grand Dogfather could work on and get multiple degrees at the University of Wyoming.

When the time came, they ventured back to the Western side of the state and eventually made it through High School.  Life paths definitely were different but not any less valid in their importance by pursuing working in various trade industries all while enjoying the great outdoors, experiencing world travels to Europe and eventually ending up in Central Wyoming.

Then the day came; Thanks to a completely butchered haircut, I got the recommendation of a website: plentyoffish.com.  Oh how that website changed our lives forever and evidently…Never underestimate the power of a decent vocabulary and proper grammer as that is what was the biggest attraction was for the Dogfather..who knew!?!

At the time of this writing about eleven years later we are now pursuing our dreams of becoming more self sufficient than not, but also acknowledging we “need” all of our modern amenities.  We are going to slowly work on developing our land with our three puppers:  Sequoia (chocolate), Tikka (black) and Lady (Charcoal) labradors.  We intend to share every aspect of the development from the acquisition, legal woes, planning, building codes / research, well drilling, solar, wind power, construction options, shed building green house trying and inevitability our failures along the way so you can learn from us too!

We absolutely are not experts and therefore do not take anything we say as much, but we will share our experiences and lives with you!  Comment below what in particular you might want to see us do, what we would want to focus on, tips, tricks or otherwise!  We’d love to hear from you!

Bye All Y’alls
